Peugeot 307 whinning noise & grinding

there is a whinning noise coming from the engine it is there as soon as the car is started and doesn't go away it gets louder when wheels turned to full lock
there is also a very slight grinding heard when the steering wheel is turned
power steering fluid keeps going down slowly
can anyone help please

Sounds like you could be needing power steering pump replaced . Could also check rack for leaks .

if the power steering fluid keeps going down then you have a leak somewhere,you need to do a visual check of all the power steering hydraulic system from the reservoir to the rack.once you find and rectify the cause of the leak,then you need to top up the fluid and bleed the system by turning the steering from lock to lock with the reservoir cap removed to release the air in sysytem.as whitinghame said you may need a new pump if the old one has been run with low fluid.

i would personally check for a leak because if it a fault with the pump the steering would of become increasinly heavy
