Peugeot 307 electrics gone haywire

electronic key opening has not worked for a long time. when i manually opened the door, a constant clicking noise comes from the front doors. when I turn the ignition key, a muffled alarm sound constantly comes from the dash. no display lights come on and engine ignition is dead.

You could start by peeling back the rubber boot from the door to the body and checking the wires inside for shorts/breaks.

I had the exact same trouble with a Renault Scenic. Try taking the top off the fuse box and giving the fuses a spray of WD40. Not a complete cure, but it might stop it for a while. The French cars are notorious for this, the electronics are dirt cheap and when they start to play up, it's time to say goodbye to them. A pity, because other than this problem, they are great cars.
