Peugeot 307 engine turns over, fires up, stalls immediatlely

Car: Peugeot 307
Variant: 2.0 Petrol Manual
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Recently (last year or so) my 02 Peugeot 307 2.0 Petrol has developed an intermitten starting problem which has gotten more regular (about once every week or two)

After inserting the key and turning in the ignition, the motor turns over quickly and fires up promptly, but only for a second, then stalls. It usually starts fine the second or third time. However, just today it took at least 6 attempts.

It has on occasion also stalled about 30 seconds after start up, only to be fine on restarting.

Most of the time it is fine and starts promptly. It seems to happen randomly, and does not seem to have any relation to temperature, weather or cold/hot start.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

your car needs a diagnostic check to see if any faults are logged it does sound like a crank sensor fault it might be a good idea to clean throttle housing with some carb cleaner and check for any split or loose breather pipes first also check for any loose connection at underbonnet components

Wouldn't do any harm to check / replace plugs if not been done for a while .Could also check the engine coolant temperature sensor which lets ECU know how much fuel is needed .
