Peugeot 307 noisy engine

Car: Peugeot 307
Variant: 1.4 s manual
Model Year: 2005
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I recently had the cylinder head gasket replaced and immediately following this everything was fine. However, my engine has since become very noisy, which I suspect is coming from the valves. What would cause this and how big/expensive a job is it to fix?

On tickover the revs keep dropping to a point where it seems like the engine will stall but then picks back up, which it does repeatedly. It doesn't subside even when the engine's warmed up. Any ideas please?

sometimes that kind of noise is not from the head but the water pump, get the water pump checked.
