Peugeot 208 satnav & cruise control failed after having wishbone replaced.

Car: Peugeot 208
Variant: 1.4 TDi
Model Year: 2012
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hello fellow 208 owners. Please help if you can.

After getting a new offside wishbone fitted on my 208, I found that the SatNav, and the Cruise Control had stopped working , though the touchscreen worked on everything else!

I wonder if there is a wire sending data to the touchscreen that was disconnected when the offside wheel was removed?

Or maybe if the so-called mechanic caused a fuse to blow during the work by a sensor wire hitting an exposed part of the chassis.

I certainly will not use the same garage again, as he denied having caused the problem.

I love the car, but this one little fault is making me tear my hair out... But at the age of 80, I guess I should be lucky to have any hair to pull out!

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Dave

Dont know what he would do to affect that in replacing wishbone but sometimes a low battery can be a cause , On some cars it cuts off non essential items to preserve power for starting etc . Often you get some mechanics who play radio and / or leave door open with interior light on , hook up hand / inspection lamps and that can deplete an already low battery . Worth checking your battery with a voltmeter after lying overnight and prior to starting and eliminate that possibility

Thanks for your message, but as it was a new battery in December, fully charged, I can eliminate that as being the cause.

I had a 406 and that had a wire leading from behind the offside brake pads which just dangled loose for ages, that was to a brake sensor, and I wasn't even aware that it wasn't functioning until it was pointed out to me by the MOT garage. That is why I suspect that a wire (if fitted) could have been interfered with on the 208 by the mechanic.

Thanks again. Good to hear from you.

Your wire may have been the wear indicator for the brake pads , Quite common for them to break . You could try removing fuse #18 for the touchscreen for a few seconds which may reboot and clear any faults . Check your brake lights are working o.k as a faulty brake pedal switch can affect cruise control

Many thanks. You certainly know your 208's

I'll look at the fuses as soon as possible and get back to you to let you know if any of your suggestions cured the niggling problems.

Thanks again.
