Peugeot 207 bonnet release

Car: Peugeot 207
Variant: SW 1.6 hdi
Model Year: 2007
recently have discovered the bonnet release cable appears to have snapped (lever moves full range without resistance)

Any way the bonnet can opened without major dealer expense, could fix myself once opened

Has the cable just pulled through the Plastic pull handle. If yes get a Vice Grip and attach to the Cable and pull the Cable using the Vice grip. If the Cable is snapped -mid cable- have a look at the cable routing on a similar 207 and try to get a point where you can grip and pull the cable from underneath.
