I had the car for a period of 23weeks have done just over 2000 miles when oil pressure warning light came on, oil was topped up a week later driving home from work approx 7 mile journey, smoke started coming from engine and stop car warning came on immediately stopped and discovered huge pool of oil under car warranty company have declined repair said it was wear and tear but won't discuss engineers findings any ideas of problem would be greatly appreciated before I get an independent expert report

This is going nowhere until the source of the leak is known.

When the oil pressure light came on was the oil level down or did you just add oil ?If down , how much oil was added ? Was it overfilled ? What mileage has the car done ?

The oil was down and was filled just under max level the car has done 62402 miles overall, did suffer from small oil leak week after purchase, which included service, nothing significant advised to monitor by two garages including Richard Hardies, didn't escalate to anything major. Forgive my naivety but this oil loss also splattered most of the back lower drivers side of the engine. now the car will not hold any engine oil at all.

Catastrophic springs to mind.
I refer you to my previous statement.
Until it's known where it splattered from we're in the dark.
It could have been anything,
including an impact from something on the road!
Not what you want to hear,
It needs cleaned off and inspected.
Your expert sounds like a good idea provided it's just an eyeball inspection,
No dismantling.

You really need to get this report carried out to give you any chance of fighting the claim .Having dealt with used car warranty companies for years you really need to prove there was a fault that caused it as " wear and tear " is very often used to decline any claim .

Thanks for your help it was stripped down for warranty company engineer inspection but dealer is too ask for report and discuss findings, after all engine failed before 6 month deadline onus is on dealer to prove there was no fault on vehicle when purchased. I will update site when problem is identified to help others who may have same issue

Just a quick update car needs Head gasket casing, timing chain, timing chain tensioners, and timing chain guides looking at not much change out of 600 quid .

Thanks for update , are warranty company picking up the bill or at least contributing to cost ?
Posted Nov 29, 2015 (8 years ago)
Unfortunately not said it was wear and tear it all occurred because the timing chain had stretched at 62,000 mile a part that should be good for 100,000 dealer has agreed to meet half the cost.

Since your original post and looking into it , this seems to be a common fault on that car .A timing chain should not fail at that mileage .Here is an example of many similar complaints .

" My wife has the same engine in her 207cc and it definitely has a chain. I am interested to know what info you have on the chain recall. According to Peugeot there is not a problem with the chains but the chain on my wife’s car "stretched" at 18000 miles and Peugeot said it was fair wear and tear. The same engine in the Mini Cooper has been recalled for the tensioner modification but still Peugeot deny there is a problem .Richard Moloney from Shropshire "

Only good point is Peugeot helping with cost though you are still out of pocket .Thank you for update .Hope you have no more problems with car .
