As for the starting problem, it could need a new starter. Also the cutting out problem could be the engine idle sensor.

The starting fault is probably due to the battery being flat , and the ticking / clicking noise will be the solenoid .Get it tested or charged .Any fast fit centre or accessory shop will do it foc .You could also check terminals and earths .Cutting out is usually caused by the idle air control valve (IACV) / stepper motor .

If the battery is flat and you bump start it, if there is hardly any charge in battery , when you use any electrics it can cause it to cut out as revs drop and until alternator puts some charge back .See how it goes after testing / charging battery .
