Peugeot 206 clutch/gearbox

Car: Peugeot 206
Variant: 1.4 petrol Left Hand Drive
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch

I recently got to the point where the noise of worn clutch thrust brearing got on my nerves so had a local mechanic (In Spain) change the complete clutch assembly and cable. The cable was a genuine Peugeot part but the rest of the assembly was not.

My problem started when I went to collect the car, the noise had disappeared but I was left with a gearbox that crunched/crashed in and out of 3rd gear and I am now unable to drop down into 2nd gear from 3rd unless going really slowly. Other gears feel notchy, feels a bit like the syncromesh has gone.

The mechanic is not interested in the problem, saying he did his job of changing the clutch and the gear selection is nothing to do with him! Even when it's pointed out that the car only went in with a noisy thrust and a perfect gear change.

Anybody got any ideas?

it may be a possibility but i wonder whether there is a problem with the cable.I would hope that the box was refilled with oil!!

i suspect they knocked the gear linkages or damaged them on removal of the box... simple seu-up. easily done
