Peugeot 206 clunk noise from accelerator

Car: Peugeot 206
Variant: 1.4
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Everytime I lift my foot off the accelerator it makes a very loud clunking noise. I have had several mechanics take a look at it and none of them can figure out where the noise is coming from!

Could check engine mountings , driveshafts , steering / suspension arms , exhaust etc. .

They checked all of that and believe it could be something internal and basically told me that im just gonna have to live with the noise!

Hello,

Quick question, does your gear leaver feel "loose" when engaged in a gear (basically can you move the gear stick a fair amount while in 3rd for example). The reason for asking is I have this very problem, now I pushed my gear leaver harder and held it in place while trying to replicate the problem and it happened a lot less, if this works for you then I suggest a new gear linkage [b]with a new bush[b] - what has probably happened is the bush has worn away so much that the 2 pieces of metal are knocking under the engines' natural movement, therefore causing the noise!

Let me know how you get on! =)
