Peugeot 206 air bag fault ??

Car: Peugeot 206
Variant: 206cc Allure automatic
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Every morning for the last 7 months on and off everytime I start car up in the morning the air bag lights come on and the warning 'airbag deacticiate', 'airbag fault' appears on the dash, also the doors lock...now if I turn the ignition off for a few moments then start her again - all is fine! When starting the car to drive home from work I dont have this problem, what is casuing this please I dont want to have to pay £70 for a Peugeot dealer to have a look at it...I have heard several things may cause this like low battery, connector faulty under passenger seat etc...but can anyone advise, Im worried Im doing more harm by keep starting car with this happening.

If it's being doing this for seven months , not very clever if you had a bump and airbag did not activate ? Have you checked connections under seats as you mentioned ? Other possible causes also, but worth checking .If not that , best to get it scanned for fault , could be something minor .

I have had the following intermittent fault appearing on my Pug 206cc, on start up there is a grating noise as the speedo needle flicks up and back to zero briefly, then the driver air bad light comes on, followed by an audible chime, followed by the passenger airbag symbol, these both stay on, and on the dash comes the words 'Passenger Airbag Deactivated' followed by 'Airbag Fault' and the doors lock me in. If I turn ignition off and on again all this disappears. I have been to and fro to a Peugeot dealership and 4 dignostic test late, a new ECU, switch, underseat wiring loom and £400 pounds later - the problem is still happening! I have reported Peugeot dealership to Trading Standards now as each time I turn up begging them to rectify this annoying fault, they want to charge me to fit something else! I have suggested they check the following - alternator, battery, seatbelt pretentsioners - at last visit they told me my battery was running a very low voltage and would cost 120 squid to fit....I kicked off and they have agreed to supply and fit FOC this weekend, I am at a loss now as if this doesnt fix this what will??? What should I do next ?? I have not asked them to check the Com2000 yet...so I guess this will be next on the list....I am determined to get to the bottom of it.

READ THIS!!!.....

I just bought a 2002 Peugeot 206 cc 2.0L. First thing I noticed it was the "airbag fault" lit up on the screen above the stereo.. I took the car to an auto elec and plugged the diagnostic tool into the ECU, it came up with "Passenger airbag level 2 igniter open circuit" first thing i did to fix this problem was disconnect the positive on the battery, next under driver and passenger seat there is a green plug with 2 orange wires and 1 green wire with yellow trace and on the other side of the plug is 1 brown, 1 blue and 1 green with yellow trace.. cut and join the wires one at a time so you dont get confused eliminating the plug completely. The system should clear itself and the abs light on the dash should disappear! If it doesn't and still says "airbag fault" then go to the panel under the steering wheel where the fuses are located and look for a "blue" plug with 4 wires either side with same colour coding and do the same eliminating the plug all together and join the wires directly, but remember do this one at a time and make sure you use proper solder and heat shrink.. This is what i did for mine and it cleared the fault with out even going back to the auto elec to get it cleared.. good luck and if you need any further assistance just email me @ [email protected]
