Peugeot 206 power from gas pedal seems to be dragging- like driving through treacle

Car: Peugeot 206
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I recently has a whole new exhaust/catalytic converter fitted and since then it is hard to know if it is my imagination or not but teh car seems different. It feel like there is less power in teh gas and I have to press harder to get the same amount of power as before. Also when I release the gas pedal it jerks very quickly back to a slow speed rather than a gradual slowing down. It does feel a bit like i am taking 2 steps forward and 1 backwards or as above driving through treacle. No engine indication lights come on, but the engine does judder a bit in standstill but the gearstick does not shake.

Thankyou. The car nearly didn't make it this eve so pulled into nearest garage and they also said it was probably misfiring- unfortuantly not the same garage that fitted the exhaust system first time round- hopefully I can charge them!! Thanks for you help.

if the car is misfiring then check your plugs and coilpack as these are prone to faults

A quick road test should confirm whether it is a engine misfire or not .As suggested , plugs / coil are favourites if that is fault .
