Peugeot 206 missing plug/connector???

Car: Peugeot 206
Variant: 1.4 lx Auto
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
After removing the large plastic hose coming from the air filter, i notice that lower down in the engine compartment there is a female connector that looks like it should have a male connector plugged into it.
It is orange in colour and is situated approx 50mm from where it is connected to the gearbox (Automatic)
The connector is a hard plastic black squarish thing which at the moment has part of this orange section sticking out; this orange section pushes in to the black bit (but does not stay in) when it is pushed in you can see the other end, this end looks like a connector will plug into it.

As with all cars i'm aware that i will have many plugs/sockets etc that are not actually used in my particular model but i thought i'd check on this one!

Many Thanks
