1999 Peugeot 206 light alarm goes off when opening driver door - no lights on.

Hello My sisters car, has an annoying issue, and i hope you can help.
When opening the Drivers side door (regardless key in the ignitaion or not)
A noise like that you get when you're lights are left on persists until you shut the door.
I have turn every light fog /internal/dipped on and off and still no change. She has had this issue for years but is looking to sell the car so it would be nice to get it fixed...
I think this started when her car got broken into and they ahd to change the locks...
Any advice to fix this issue appreciated.

I think you are correct and it is built into lock assembly , might be worthwhile pulling door trim off and having a look .
