Peugeot 206 electrical issues

Car: Peugeot 206
Variant: 1.1
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hello All.
Just bought my first car, 54 plate 1.1 206.
Problems just started the other day. Driving along the road and wipers and lights came on for no reason. Had no control over other electrical switches on steering column including hazards. Stopped car and switched off engine. Tried to restart but as soon as ignition switch was on wipers and lights came on with both witches in off position and car wouldn't start. Left car say 30 mins and it would then start. Runs fine when started until wipers etc come on again.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Sounds like the Body Systems Interface has gone bad.
The BSI basically commands all the electrics your having problems with.
A Peugeot Planet (Peugeots own diagnostics system) scan using what they term a global scan will confirm.
BSI's can be repaired which is good as they are coded to the vehicle.
And this is not a rare fault on these.
The only other thing to check is for water ingress in the fuse/relay electrical connectors in the box under the bonnet.
But BSI fault is most likely.

Thanks very much for your reply. Is the BSI the black box fixed to the top of inside passenger side wing?
Could I get a second hand one and put that it?

Sorry but BSI's are coded to the vehicle.
Try website BBA REMAN.
they repair test modules.
S/H would need the key set and the black BSI module.
Personally I like to keep the original and keys the same so I go the repair route.

It gets more interesting.....
Just been out in my car and the problem reered it's head again.
Switched the radio off and the fault cleared itself. The radio is the standard Peugeot fitment.
Does this reinforce the BSI theory?

Yup,
But the only way to be 100% is a P.P. global scan.
