Peugeot 206 rev counter

Car: Peugeot 206
Variant: 1.4 LX
Model Year: 1999
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
When the engine is on, the rev counter will not give an accurate reading, on tickover it can be anything from 0 revs to off the clock. It sometimes displays the revs about 3000 above what they should be.

your rev meter is broke, the gear that regulates the rev meter has worn,to prove this if you take off your dash board you will find the rev needel will move easly by hand.
