My first port of call would be a dodgy ignition switch. Not the key but the electrical part on the back. Sounds like its not giving power to the accessories needed when you are turning the key but when the key is released all accessories are powered fine. That's why it bumps ok as your not turning the key.

it sounds like an engine speed sensor fault

Car starts first time with a bump which points me to the ignition switch. If it didn't bump also I would be looking at engine sensors also.

The only difference with a bump and turning with the key is the ignition barrel. IMHO that's where I would put my money on.
But I have been wrong before and not afraid to admit it again.

starts with a bump as ecu sees vehicle speed. Check the underbonnet fuse box as well to rule out water ingress
