Peugeot 206 internal alarm, won't start

Car: Peugeot 206
Variant: Roland Garros 1.4
Model Year: 2000
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
When I unlock the car and open the drivers door an internal two tone alarm goes off. Put the key in the ignition and lights and radio comes on, but car will not start. I have tried opening and closing all the doors, including the boot, in case it is that. Also used the key in the door instead of the remote plus set and unset the alarm. Can't think what else to try.

if you leave the key in the ignition and open the door does the key warning sound. ignition needs to be off

Sure it's not a flat / run down battery you have ? Try a jump start ?

Hi. It is not the key in ignition beeping noise. I have had the AA man out, but he couldn't fix it. He thought it was the immobiliser alarm. He disconnected the battery, but once connected the alarm started again. He also took out fuse 6 for 2 minutes, but once put back in the alarm came back on. I am at my wit's end!!! Need to get to work!!

do you have another key to try?

The AA man checked the battery, which is fine. When I asked him to he also checked the earth leads, as these had gone on this car before & I have some temporary ones in place. This was also fine. Don't think bump starting will help, can you do that in an automatic? Just want this stupid alarm to turn off...

Hi. No, only got the one key.

Cant bump start an automatic .

If it's an automatic and the engine does not turn , could be a faulty inhibitor switch ?
Posted Feb 18, 2014 (10 years ago)
Where would I find the inhibitor switch? Trying disconnecting the battery for a while to see if that re-sets it.

Believe they call it a multi function switch , this shows you .

The problem was that mice had chewed through the wiring loom & so the car thought the immobiliser was on. Solution was to replace the complete loom. Car now works!!
