its possible that the boot lock may just be frozen as ive never come across this before spray some wd40 in to the lock this should help loosen up the lock

My central locking works but the boot is permanently locked.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I had a similar problem, all it turned out to be was with all the slamming of the boot shifted the lock connection back toward the front of the car slightly, all you need to do is loosen the bolts, pull it back toward you and tighten, haven't had a problem since.
Hope this helps
