Peugeot 206 car overheating

the car has suddenly become very thirsty for water and overheats. thank you

You will have to check for external water leaks first .If nothing apparent a pressure test on cooling system will show up any faults .You could also test the thermostat is not sticking in the closed position .If no faults showing it may be head gasket .Usual signs are pressurising of coolant system , water in engine oil or blowing steam out the rear . A block test will confirm or not .

Dont know why the double post , but just to add ,check coolant fan is cutting in also and that coolant cap is not leaking .
