Peugeot 2008 cam belt failing. '68 plate peugeot 2008. common fault?

Car: Peugeot 2008
Variant: 2008
Model Year: 2018
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
45000 miles, '68 plate used 2008, had car 6months only. It went into limp mode so she (Daughter in Law) stopped. Dashboard advising garage job. Local garage find cam belt wear and bits clogging oil filter & have advised dealer repair therefore likely to be V. Expensive! Is this a common fault? Has there been any admission of Peugot failure?

Oh blimey! That’s what I said to them was they were lucky but my concern, as is yours no doubt, is there anything from Peugeot? ‘Our’ car has only done 45000 miles, not 5yrs old yet. Recommendation is 60K or 6 years so there should be some form of product failure claim I would have thought!?

No guarantee that I know of , always better getting it replaced earlier rather than later
