Nissan Almera reduced power

Car: Nissan Almera
Variant: 1.4 petrol
Model Year: 2000
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
About 2 weeks ago my car went in to limp mode and showed a error code for lambda sensor 2, i had this replaced and straight way it went in to limp mode againa and this time sensor 1, both have now been replaced but car still shudders when changing gears and is resistant at diffrent speeds. I have changed the spark plugs and have checked the coils. I have also disconected the mass air flow sensor but this only made the problem worse. seems to have everybody stuck and I'm not willing to have a garage replace everything just to say there is still a problem. did discover the engine earth had came away and a slight improvement when conected it again. have even tested a working lambda sensor just to see if it was a faulty one. Any new ideas would be great.

If you are sure coils themselves are o.k , check wiring .

Have resorted taking it to a local garage for further testing which showed up only error for front lambda sensor. Have now changed the spark plugs, mass air flow sensor. Fuel pump and filter been checked and nothing found. Garage checking the cat but got a feeling this is just money down the drain. Will look in to wires as not much left to check.

Is this Almera a 1.5 with the timing chain or the 1.4 with the cambelt?
I had the spluttering problem on my 1.5 but showed no signs of any poor running on tickover, no limp home mode, misfiring and such. Worst case scenario may be timing chain as they do randomly stretch on the 1.5- This normally throws the management light on, however. On the 1.4, I believe it is belt driven so does not suffer the same kind of trouble.Good luck.
