X reg Nissan Almera petrol - Heater control access & air con info please

HI
A car sales have just sold an X reg Nissan Almera and want me to do the usual service checks prior to it going out, and also could I have a look at the heater, as it is blowing hot air all the time.
I have been for a test drive and they are correct. Full hot air is the only thing that comes from the heaters. There is no difference to the intensity when the rotary switch is moved, nor is there any difference if the aircon is switched on.
The positioning flap directs the air to the appropriate place and the fan works correctly.
The aircon switch illuminates, but the pipes are not getting cold and the compressor is not pulling in, so that is probably a separate fault (min of 3 days waiting time at the moment for air con man)
So, the other fault must be the temperature control. As I have not been able to access the heater controls, I'm not sure of how it operates. Is it cable operated??
I have included a phone picture of the dash. - How do you gain access to the heater controls without causing damage??
Any suggestions and advise readily taken on board.
Thanks.

Hi
In the absence of Haynes not listing a book for this model, and no reply to my posting plead, I had to take a risk.
It is quite easy once you know how and I have included another photo illustration.
Do not try pulling any of the knobs off:
To start with, lift the lid of the binnicle and use the lip of the storage area to grip and simply tug/pull towards you. The upper section can then be moved and rested on top of the dash.
Next, again tug/pull the lower section towards you (the trim with the storage hole).
With both these pieces removed, it then reveals self tapping screws for the outer cover of the centre section. (which also has the radio attached)
The aerial lead was unplugged and the centre section moved to hang to the side, as I required the heater controls. Again another four screws held this assembly in place.
My fault was with the temperature control outer cable retaining spring clip had become detatched. Nissan must have known about this fault as they now list a modified spring clip.
Reassembly is the exact reversal of stripping.
The aircon just required a regas - no leaks detected.
Hope this helps someone.
