Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
i've just purchased an almera 1.4si (1997)
the thing is it was fine when i gave it a test drive but today when i drove it the car stuttered and felt like it was going to cut out and then picked up and then stuttered,
on and of through out the day but on two of my trips it drove fine no problem,
i'm going to try and see if any breaks or cracks in the pipeing in or around the air flow metre, is there anything else i can do as well,
i'm kindda in a pickle as i've not really much funds to resolve this problem, can't afford a mechanic so help please.

Hi, it could be several things, but try changing the fuel filter- it could be partially blocked. Cheap and easy to do

sounds like you have an ignition fault, either coil or leads breaking down under load start with basics first, plugs etc they do suffer with air mass meter problems but not usually causing stuttering just flat performance

It could be a poor fuel or filter, if changing each of these don't fix the problem, get a mechanic to take a look, sounds like a similar problem to what I had, does it rev high even though not much power seems to be happening as your top end may be on the way out, sorry to say :(
