Nissan 100NX starting car

i start car by depressing foot brake.the pedal has to go right down to let the ignition turn.9 out of 10 i can start.my wife as problems pressing foot brake all the way,so can't start.the brake goes solid(servo?)we have to wait some time before being able to start.sometimes it takes several try's.is it the servo making the problem.

On entering car , if you push the brake pedal down once in a continuous movement , it will travel further .But if you pump pedal a few times to try and get it to go down , or stop / start pushing ,you evacuate the servo , making the brake pedal hard to push until engine started .When engine starts you then get servo unit operating normally and giving braking assistance .Hope this makes sense and helps you understand how it operates .
