Warns that the person in the passenger seat does not use the seat belt. No one is sitting there so why warning signals???

If no one sitting on seat and nothing of any weight lying on seat , possibly faulty sensor . On some cars it can be caused by damaged wiring / connections under seats Should be covered by warranty ?
