Check temp of both hoses going into heater matrix . Also check this ,

I have the manual heater controls on my 2.5, I was looking at it recently and there is no water valve, just a flap that shuts off the air blowing over the matrix. Maybe this is your problem, on mine the cable controlling the flap had come off it's clamp allowing the outer cable sheath to move instead of the inner cable.

and this

well i have finally sorted it ! i tried the park on a hill and top up as bubbles flowed ect but finally sorted it by conecting the garden hose direct to the left hanD side of the matrix and turning the tap on full it just trickled from the right hand side of the matrix at first and the stuff coming out was brown sludge, after 5 mins it was running clear i then reversed the hose and sent the water the other way,and re conected them matrix to the cooling system to check it worked ___ it did !!
i have drained the system now refilled with coolant and alls good thanks for your help
