Mitsubishi Pajero noise when turning

Car: Mitsubishi Pajero
Variant: 3.0 litre v6
Model Year: 2008
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
When turning sharply (particularly full lock) at slow speed, i.e. parking, there is a 'crunching' noise coming from the front axle/wheel area when turning the steering wheel.

The car has around 55000 Km on the clock and the same problem happened with my previous Pajero, also at around the 60,000 Km mark.

Any suggestions as to what the problem may be? The Mitsubishi Service Centre say that it just requires lubricant but this has not helped.

could be a dry ball joint, they have greese nipples on most joints id start with greese gun round all then greese the steering lock stops ,when the steering is on full lock the stops hit metal to metal and if not lubed can make a loud graunching noise
