On my earlier quest to find out why beloved would not go into front wheel drive, I discovered some loose teeth, so I got myself a "new" transfer case. After surgery it still won't go into front wheel drive. The shaft that puts the front wheel drive on moves, but not always. It is lubed up and on the bench it works perfectly. I have chased all the vacuum lines and changed the solenoid... When engaging the front wheel drive it drives, but very limply and there are some mild grinding noises. The transfer chain in the donor organ is good. What on earth am I missing?
