Mitsubishi Pajero cutting out

when it starts of a morning it runs for a good few seconds then will start to splutter,even with a little excelleration sometimes it will pick up and steady it self othertimes it will just die even with excelleration,when that happens it takes alittle time to start up again,had this problem for some time,

another problem i have is when towing my caravan it uses water,does not use any water on normal motoring,but when towing it will use the whole bottle at about 50 miles and more,can any one help please,going with the tourer in a few weeks would like to have it right before then.thanks.

Your injector pump seal is worn, remove the fuel filter and you will find the diesel has discoloured or turning black. most competant garages will do the job but make sure they have the correct seal for it as its a special seal, check ebay injector pump seals, the job should cost you no more than £200

the most common cause on the pajero is the radiator that becomes slowly blocked or restricks flow, failing that head gaskets and cracked heads are also a problem, see how much pressure you are getting in the top hose if it feels really solid its more than likely the head at fault, if not i would try first with a radiator.

thanks for the water suggestion,it had a new radiator july 2008
