Mitsubishi Outlander clutch just gave way whilst driving

Car: Mitsubishi Outlander
Variant: 2ltr
Model Year: 2007
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
My wife was driving to shops on sunday morning and the clutch just gave way and she couln,t drive it any further. We called the AA and they towed it to our local garage. The AA man and indeed the garage have said that they have never come across the problem before. The garage have stripped the clutch and mentioned the slave cylinder, and excessive play in the fly wheel. The garage is quoting £1200 for repair and Mitsibushi don,t seem to be interested unless we get the car across to them to look at in Warrington which is 25 miles away and we would have to pick up the cost? This car like all others of it,s kind has been recalled by Mitsibishi 2-3 times over the past 3 years for various problems and I feel that they should take some responsibility here to sort the problem out as the car has not been abused by us and has only got 32500 miles on the clock? Any advice? Thanks, Mike.

if the clutch kit, slave cylinder and flywheel need replacing then the price you have been quoted sounds right,if the car is out of warranty then mitsubishi won`t carry out the work
