Mitsubishi L200 timing belt

Car: Mitsubishi L200
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
When vehicle was idling outside the house the other day, the engine suddenly cut out.
On further investigation found that timing belt snapped. My concern is for possible engine damage even though engine was idling at the time. Anyone with any thoughts on this as it could turn out to be a costly incident if this is indeed the case.

there is a very high chance of piston to valve hitting, you have really two options remove the cam cover and check all the valve clearances if they are ok you might have got away with it, or you could just fit a new belt and see what happens,
