Mitsubishi L200 low pulling power

Car: Mitsubishi L200
Variant: 2.5d
Model Year: 1997
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi I hope you all can help. My 2.5d L200 has very low pulling power as it only gets up to 60mph and it takes forever to get there. The truck does not smoke under load or when coasting. When climbing hills it will slow down to 50mph and stick there till Iv made it over, this is even on the motorway. In each gear it takes for ever to reach 3000 rpm, must be one of the slowest trucks i have ever driven. The truck is a 1997 p reg with only 122k, and a full service history.

Please help as I dont know what it could be.

Thanks

Will

Don't know if this is a possible solution,

sounds like an injection pump fault but check with your dealer as there is an ecu rewrite available for the l200 to correct overboost issues which are very common and result in loss of power and/or excessive black smoke.the injection pump however I would go to your local diesel specialist as they may be able to diagnose a faulty pump easier and more accurately than the dealer.unfortunately the 4d56 diesel pump is not servicable due to the calibration chip on the top.if it is just a matter of adjusting pump timing than the specialist can do it

Follow steel pipe from fuel filter to pump and remove banjo bolt.then deep inside there is a very small mesh filter approx cotton bud size, remove this and throw away and your power will be restored, these block over time because mesh is so fine, done it to mine and sorted it,mine is also 1997, also if more power required then turn fuel screw in about a 16th of a turn at a time😊
