Running Rough, Starting & Power LossEngine & Drivetrain
Currently touring Italy on holiday from the UK. In high 20's/low 30's Deg C after running for a few hours at 65mph ish, the engine starts to run roughly, feels like a misfire. Also a lot of what sounds like tappet noise. No warning lights. It's just under 80k miles, so not exactly high
mileage.
Neither of us speak Italian so any help or advice would be very welcome!

Double check engine oil level , sounds like maybe oil getting thin with prolonged heat and continuous speed . Assume engine oil and filter have been replaced as service schedule using good oil / filter , Might also consider changing fuel filter in case bad load in topping up as can sometimes happen abroad

Many thanks for that. I'm thinking that if fuel filter problem, it would show up straight away? Oil level is a little high if anything. Heat soak/oil temperature currently the most likely suspect I think...
Currently visiting friends for a few days, but will report back for the benefit of others who might experience the same thing...

If only a little high oil level , should be o.k . If really bad needs excessive drained off .Safe journey home , look forward to update

Got the fuel filter changed yesterday as a precautionary measure - pretty mucky in what came out of there and a few small blobs of algae. Engine immediately felt like it had more power. No serious driving until tomorrow, when we set off for ferry crossing to Sardinia. Fingers crossed!
