Mitsubishi L200 battery dead again...

Car: Mitsubishi L200
Variant: Warrior
Model Year: 2008
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I have recently bought my l200. I use it briefly about twice a week at the moment. I go start it up and the battery is flat . The RAC have been out and said the battery is new and fine , there is no voltage leak either . Does anyone know what might be causing the problem and what to look out for?

It's not so much voltage as current.
I would connect a multi meter in series between the disconnected battery and the earth lead.
ONLY WITH THE KEY OUT!
Too much current will fry a meter.
Then you have a readout of the current draw.
Then it's a case of disconnecting circuits until the current drops to an acceptable level.
Now every modern vehicle will draw current for many different systems when the key is off,
Most will be apparent.
But first suspect might blow the big amp fuse in your meter first time,
Oh sorry,
should have stated set the meter to DC amps 10.
And first thing to disconnect is the alternator if there is a big current draw.
Difficult to be precise but I worry if there is a current draw in the hundred + mili ampere range.
Less than 100 mil/amps is better.

I have found out many a time over decades with cars brought into my workshop ,never to accept what said by breakdown drivers .I would get battery and alternator load tested .Most fast fit centres or the likes of Halfords usually carry out tests FOC .
