Mitsubishi L200 bumper fog lights not working

Car: Mitsubishi L200
Variant: 2.5TD WARRIOR
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hi there
I hope someone can give me some advise, for some reason the foglights (spots) that are built into my front bumper have stopped working all the other lights come on when I press the fog switch apart from the spots and also I have a little green dash light that comes on to let me know that the fogs are active, but now it just flickers! I lifted the bonnet to check the relay and noticed it was making a sizzling noise like a bad connection so I have changed the relay hoping that would solve my problem but no joy even the new relay sounds just the same.

I have checked my manual and according to that I don't even have these little spotlights so i gather they must of been an extra put on at some stage. I'm now stuck where to look next for the problem which is driving me bonkers ;-) any advise would be much appreciated. Many thanks Dean

Place to start is at the light unit itself ,check for power, and are bulb,s ok.

Hi there thanks for your time. I tested the light sockets via a multimeter and that was fine and I replaced the bulbs just in case but still the same.. I know I'll probably end get up getting an auto sparky out I was just hoping it might be something simple. Someone mentioned it could be a bad earth or connection but I would know where to start.
Regards
Dean..

Take it you are not getting power at the bulb,s then?If not then trace the wiring back making sure there are no break,s chafing etc,if it lead,s to the relay you described ,Then check for power at it and check it,s switching .

Hi there no that's the strange thing I am getting power to the bulbs but nothing happens apart from the head and side lights coming on oh and the mad sizzling noise.. I'll go over the wiring today and see what else I can come up with ;-)
Many thanks

Hi there,
I had a similar problem on my Vauxhal combo van, had power to the lights etc.... turned out to be a bad earth & dodgey connection.

Hope this helps

Hi there
Had exact same prob I checked everything fuses the lot.. In the end got a sparky to check it and all it was was a dodgy fuse in the line ha ha couldn't believe I missed that.. I did test it myself but it passed at the time..
