Mitsubishi L200 dipped headlights dull

Car: Mitsubishi L200
Variant: 4 life
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hi,
I need help my mitsubishi l200 2002 has very dull dipped headlights,I have changed dim dip relays dim dip resistor but still the same. When on dipped there is only six volts at bulb when using the earth terminal on bulb, but 12 volts when using battery earth terminal.I assumed bad earth,so put a earth wire from battery directly to bulb, but then lights come on bright but dont change when you use dip switch stalk. Also when on dipped the blue main beam light on dash stays illuminated faintly.
Cheers Dave

Certainly looks like an earthing fault . Rather than earthing it the way you have , better tracing where the fault lies either in plug or wiring at lamp/s or run earth to body rather than battery .

P.s
I'm not an auto electrician , had people in my workshops who were and done those repairs , so basic knowledge .

Check your switch is okay and they are common for water corrosion in the headlight relays,so if you can check they are okay.
