Mitsubishi FTO speedo faulty

Car: Mitsubishi FTO
Variant: MIVEC GPX
Model Year: 1995
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have an FTO Mivec GPX, and I've recently starting having problems with the speedo.
Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it read 0 when travelling along and sometimes it reads 180, when stationary!
I've heard it might be something to do with the delimeter sensor, but there's conflict on the web as to what this actually is, and what it's called - and nothign to tell me where to find it.
I'm happy to do it myself, but don't feel I fully understand the culprit.

If you're familiar with this problem, I'd really appreciate some advice, hopefully some photos and maybe a recomendation of an autoelectrician oop in t'frozen north, that might be able to help (I'm in Lancashire).

This shows you how to do a dianostic scan and gives code for possible vehicle speed sensor fault , might help you .
