Mitsubishi Colt car wont start - petrol problem??

I HAVE HAD MY FUEL TANK CLEANED OUT - FILTER REPLACED, FUEL PUMP IS RUNNING WELL - CAR WILL START SOMETIMES AND THEN CUT OFF. AFTER 24 HOURS THOUGH THE CAR WILL START UP AGAIN FOR A BRIEF 5 MINS AND THEN CUT OUT!

I DID HAVE A SMALL CAR ACCIDENT AT THE END OF LAST YEAR - COULD IT BE THE CRASH SENSOR??

PLEASE SOULD ANYBODY HELP....IVE SPENT CLOSE TO 600 POUNDS ON THE CAR AND STILL HAVENT RESOLVED THE ISSUE!!

Are you sure its fuel related ? Possible crank shaft sensor, ignition coil or something along that line ?

Thanks for the response Paul. I thought it may have been the crash sensor! I had a little knock in my car before christmas and since then my management light was coming up when I was driving and the car was cutting out. This has gradually got worse and now the thing wont start!!!
