Mercedes Benz C Class kick down not working

I have checked the gearbox oil level that is ok ,was told by garage who run diagnostics that the air flow sensor was faulty so have changed that but the problem is still , will it make a difference if I disconnect the battery for a while?

Check under accl pedal and see if you have a kick down switch which may be faulty and your problem .
2002 was the year it was changed and may or may not have one .
