Mercedes Benz A Class squealing from front wheel

Car: Mercedes Benz A Class
Variant: 140, 1.4, manual
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Leaks & Noises
There's squealing from the front drivers side wheel, whilst driving. It starts after driving a short distance and gets louder the faster I drive. It stops when I brake. there's no hot smell or pulling to either side. I presume it could be the calipers. The brakes were changed only a few months ago (or so I was told as I've not long had the car). If kicking the wheel , it sounds tinny compared to the other wheels. Any ideas???? Thanks

Probably best bet would be to get front pads stripped down , cleaned out and pistons in callipers checked to make sure they are free. Then get copper grease put on all contact parts of pads( not on pad lining !) and calliper body before refitting . There should also be anti rattle / steady springs which fit between pad pins .As the name suggests , they stop pad rattle . Could also check for any wear / movement at wheel when jacked up .Simple job , easy to do .

P.s .
To avoid confusion , copper grease goes on back of pads where it contacts calliper pistons .

check the brake pads are not worn right down to the squealer(if fitted),this is a metal strip that squeals when the pads are near their limit,if they are ok then it might be worth deglazing the pads and discs, also check that the backplate is not scraping on the brake disc, and that there is nothing fouling on the the wheel or driveshaft
