Mercedes Benz A Class stiff steering

Car: Mercedes Benz A Class
Variant: classic
Model Year: 2000
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
Had a stiff steering wheel so changed the power steering pump and bled air out of the system after putting fluid back. The steering wheel squeaks and is still stiff round bends. The steering is better but still very stiff. What could it be?
