Mazda 323 gearbox oil leak

Car: Mazda 323
Variant: 323 f Imola
Model Year: 1996
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Hi,
My other son's car has sprouted an oil leak from the grearbox area. More of a drip really, but bad enough to want to sort it. I think it's coming from the drain plug, and I have a new washer for that. My problem is, where do I top it up? The drain plug is on the bottom of the box, so no use. I cannot see or feel anything else. One suggestion was that I top it up through the speedo cable attachment, but I can't see any speedo cable, never mind where it attaches to the gearbox!!

regards
Ian

hi ian 323 box is filled either from a 23mm plug in the front of box half wat up or for the older cars from speedo but only if it has a cable.its on the back of the box next to the engine above the front diff.if it has an electrical cable then its the 23mm plug if a mech cable then remove 10mm bolt pull out drive with cable fill to level. if your chassis number starts jmzba then it will deff be 23mm plug if its jmzbg could be either.if your not sure DONT remove any bolts as rev gear idler fixes from outside box and if you remove wrong plug youll wish you hadnt
