hi my freelander is having another bout of not starting first time,as it does useualy, sometimes starts after two or three turns, or i have to wait a while, then it maybe ok for a week,if i were to change a pump which would be the best one to do, the tank pump, or the under bonnet one,??? could it be the fuel pump relay breaking down. thank you t howard.

It is usually the the lift pump in the fuel tank but the best way to find out is when it does occur don't try to start it again straight away and have someone ready to assist you, and don't turn off the ignition, gain access to the top of the fuel tank and have a test light ready then crank the engine, check for test light illuminated and listen for pump operating, another good sign that it is not woking is that the under bonnet pump sounds very noisey.

I UNDERSTAND THAT THE PRESSURE IS VERY IMPORTANT SO YOU MAY NEED TO GET SOMEONE TO CHECK IT FULLY, MY LOCAL GARAGE IS GOOD WHEN IT COMES TO FREELANDERS BUT DONT TELL EVERYONE.
