Land Rover Discovery gearbox issue

On Friday I went to leave work, put the car in 1st gear and the lever jumped straight out. When I went back in to first the car just acted like it was in neutral, all the other gears work fine. Has anyone got any ideas as to what this may be and how I can fix it please?

Is the transfer box engaged if it is then does sound like gearbox or clutch fork issue,prone to wearing through the fork on that model.
