Kia Picanto extremely heavy clutch pedal. no slip and no noise

I have an extremely heavy clutch pedal on my Kia picanto. It's been heavy since I bought the car 2 years ago but I've put up with it. There is no slip , shudder or bearing noises but the amount of pressure I have to apply feels like something will snap one day .
Any ideas?

If it's a clutch cable fitted on that model / year , I would check or replace that first . Otherwise it maybe a worn clutch assembly / clutch diaphragm
