This might help you ,

"There is a speaker on the circuit board in the instrument cluster for the indicator ticks. It's known for this speaker to fail, and no ticks anymore... happens in the XF as well. Dealer will tell you a replacement instrument cluster is needed, but anyone good with electronics is able to replace it with a steady hand and a soldering iron."

Thank you, I do hear ticks but no audio sound( bleeps). I Did work on electronics so can replace a speaker, not sure about getting the instrument cluster, but I guess it is just a few screws and clips.

This might / might not apply to your model

When you do come to replace the lens, it's mega easy.

Remove the spar trim across the centre dash (just pull, don't lose the clips)

Remove the vent trim on the drivers side dash vent (use trim removal tool or piece of soft plastic)

The instrument cluster surround has three torx screws, one either side (under the pieces you just removed) and one under the top behind the steering wheel behind a small blanking plate.

Pull out the instrument cluster surround (don't lose the clips)

Remove the sprung shroud on top of the steering column.

Remove torx bolts (x4) from instrument cluster. Roll cluster forwards, remove the two retaining clips from the cables at the back and pull the connectors out (this will reset your trip computer)

Once you have the unit out, the lens unclips very easily.

With practice you can be in and out in half a hour.

[apologies for any inaccuracy, this is from memory]

This shows the speaker
