Hyundai IONIQ ioniq hybrid paint

Car: Hyundai IONIQ
Variant: Hybrid
Model Year: 2020
The paint has started to peel of along the cill panel (plastic).
Body shop say I must have driven through something and it won't be covered under warranty. Waiting for a response from Hyundai. any ideas why it could be happening?
I don't agree with the body shops explanation.

Hyundai have had trouble with paint peeling on different models over the last few years and I believe court cases on this issue .Worth checking up on this .

Thanks, I have seen these but all seem to be in America and Hyundai got out of it also seems to be on older models pre2015.
I will have to wait for their decision.

Hope you get it resolved in your favour .There have been recent cases with paint issues ,Two minutes searching threw this up ,

Didn't know to look for orange peel when I bought my 2019 Ioniq Hybrid, but the second I brought it home and my husband saw it, he was appalled at how much orange peel my car has. I'm still well within the paint warranty (3 years/36,000 miles; I'm only at 14,600 miles and purchased it 6/27/2019). I tried taking it to the dealership I bought it from and they said they don't have a full servicing center and that they could only start the process of filing a claim by using a clay bar on the car (which everyone knows doesn't remove orange peel). Of course this dealer said that they saw no imperfections in the paint and that everything looked so great. Now I'm waiting to drop it off at a full service Hyundai dealer to have them do the paint inspection. Seems like this is the start of a long headache.
