Hyundai i20 back lights go out when the engine is started

Back lights and dashboard lights will come on but then they go out when the engine is started

So no rear tail lights at all when switched on and engine running ?

Main dealer initially diagnosed that the switch was faulty and ordered a new one, when they went to fit it the electrician found that the cable plug on the back was loose, pushed it back on and hey presto £115 lighter the lights worked.
