We have no front fog lights but a indicator cam on the dash to say our front fog lights are on?

Even though you have no fog lights , is the fog light switch on the stalk turned to the off position ?

We have rear fog lights and the switch but no markings for front fogs and the switch will not move in that direction.

Rear fog lights have been mandatory since 1980. With a strange fault like this . on some cars disconnecting a battery terminal for a few mins and then reconnecting , reboots some modules / systems and clears fault . But cant say for definite with your car if it works or not .
